EEAA Student Transportation Policy
STUDENT TRANSPORTATION POLICY
The RSURegional School Unit 1 Board of Directors will assume the responsibility of transporting resident pupils. Safety will be the first consideration in assigning bus routes. Encouraging students to walk to school to promote physical health will also be a consideration in determining which students are walkers.
Bus stops will be clearly markedpublished on telephone poles, published in the localdistrict paper and announced in school newsletters.website.
The following are the assignments of which students will be riders:
DIKE/
DIKE-NEWELL GRADES K-2
All Dike/Dike-Newell students are eligible to be transported. Bus stops will be determined by the bus service with no student being required to walk more than 2/10 of a mile.
FISHER/
FISHER-MITCHELL
GRADES 3-5
All Fisher/Fisher-Mitchell students who live over a half a mile from the school are eligible for transportation. Students may be required to walk up to half a mile to a bus stop.
Also eligible for transportation are those students who live:
SOUTH of (not including) Weeks Street
NORTH of Leeman Highway
WEST of (not including) Pine Hill
BATH MIDDLE SCHOOL
All students who live over 1 mile from Bath Middle School are eligible for transportation. Students may be required to walk up to 1 mile to a bus stop.
Mill Pond, Oak Grove Common and Hyde Park students are eligible for
transportation. Students who live in Lambert Park are not eligible for
transportation.
Also eligible for transportation are those students who live on streets:
EAST of High Street
NORTH of Beacon and High Streets
SOUTH of Leeman Highway
ARROWSIC, PHIPPSBURG, WEST BATH, WOOLWICH
Students from Arrowsic, Phippsburg, West Bath, and Woolwich are all eligible to be transported. In cases of remote locations, the Bathbus Bus
Serviceservice is given authority to identify a reasonable point of pick up.
MORSE HIGH SCHOOL
All students who live over 1 mile from Morse High School are eligible for transportation. Students may be required to walk up to 1 mile to a bus stop.

Students must ride on their assigned bus.

RSUUnit 1 will not drop off a Kindergarten child unless a parent or designee is present. RSURegional School Unit 1 authorizes the Bathbus Bus Serviceservice to make on the spot decisions that support the safety of all children. BathThe Busbus Serviceservice will return a Kindergarten child who does not have a parent/designee at the drop off back to the child'child’s school and the parent/designee will be notified to pick up their child.

BathThe Busbus Serviceservice will drop off children at approved locations with prior notice including day care, if it does not add additional mileage.
Rules for Riding the Bus
The superintendent in consultation with building administrators and Baththe Busbus Serviceservice will develop reasonable rules and consequences for bus riding. The superintendent allocates responsibility for suspending bus privileges for rule violations to the building principal. The superintendent will be the final arbiter. These rules and sequence of
consequences will be attached to this policy.
Waiver of the Policy
The Board or its designee may waive the provisions of this policy if
conditions of an individual student or situation indicate that such a
waiver is in the best interest of the school system and the child.
Petitions for such waivers may be made to Office of the Superintendent
of Schools.
